The Lahore High Court has granted bail to PML-N leader Khawaja Asif in a case involving money laundering and possessing income sources other than those that have been identified.
NAB took the PML-N leader in December last year into custody at the National Assembly. This was in response to alleged assets that were not linked to income sources.
After he stepped out of the PML-N General Secret Ahsan Iqbal’s house, he was taken into custody. He was there for a review meeting to decide if the PML-N should contest the Senate election.
Today’s judgment was issued by an LHC panel consisting of Justice Alia Neelam, Justice Shahbaz Rizvi, and Justice Shahbaz Rizvi.
On March 27, 2021, he requested his bail appeal. He stated that he had provided all the details required by NAB.
Asif stated that “the accountability court judge also observed NAB has all relevant documents.”
He stated that the Federal Board of Revenue and Election Commission of Pakistan have also archives of his assets.
