Sunil Gavaskar Weighs In On India’s 10-Wicket Defeat Against Pakistan In T20 World Cup 2021

T20 World Cup 2021: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar weighed in on India’s 10 wicket loss to Pakistan in a statement that India must get themselves together for the next game after suffering the “absolute hammering” in the first game.

The legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar wasn’t shy when he talked about the devastating loss that was suffered in the match between India against Pakistan during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai. Gavaskar spoke of the 10-wicket loss to be the equivalent of an “absolute hammering” while talking about the post-match show that aired that aired on Star Sports. Pakistan took the lead in the game and was able to finish the job having more than thirteen balls spare. The loss was not well-received with Gavaskar and he said “The loss is an absolute hammering as far as India is concerned.”

However, despite losing, Gavaskar explained that the tournament was only beginning, and India required to get their bearings and get ready for the next matches.

“Hopefully, India will pick themselves up quickly because that’s important. You’ve got to forget what has happened in this game and focus on the next few matches,” the coach said.

Pakistan were out with guns blazing , limiting India to 151/7 in 20 overs. Shaheen Afridi dismantled the Indian top order, taking three wickets which included players such as Rohit Sharma KL Rahul, and finally the captain Virat Kohli.

After a thrilling bowling performance, Pakistan openers, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan did not let the bowlers of the opposition settle for any type of lines and lengths, as they chased the targets in 17.5 overs, without losing one wicket.

Captain Babar and Rizwan scored half-centuries, and added 152 to make an unbeaten start that enabled their team to win the first ever game against India in the T20 World Cup.

Both India as well as Pakistan both have New Zealand in line for their next game.
